Harviestoun Ola Dubh (30 Year Old)

Beer Discussion by FLASHPRO

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Harviestoun Ola Dubh (30 Year Old). Wow! I finally figured out that every barrel aged I have had prior to today has been a joke. Maybe it's because I have a library of Single Malt Scotch in my basement, but this beer was out of this world. I could smell and taste and excellent Scotch with every sip, which I have to say can be very discouraging to someone who isn't used to them. Or maybe mine was improved after being aged 4 years. The bottle numbers I see in the reviews a much higher than the 2007 batch I drank. I need more of this beer!

"I must also add that I'm a big fan of single malt scotch, and a bottle of Highland Park 30 Year goes for about $360!" that makes this a steal too compared to other brews barreled in rare and/or super-ass expensive barrels, like GI Bourbon County Rare. 23yo Pappy is cheaper than that scotch, but the beer costs far more.

Old Engine Oil and the aged bottles that I have had tottally rule! I am really stoked that the UK is really getting on board with really high quality unique brews. And the value in this bottler versus anything else barrel aged is uncomparable. This beer is much better than say Lost Abbey Deliverance, but much cheaper

last night had: Ola Dubh 12, 16, 18, 30, 40 & Older Viscocity Up until last night I had liked each older version a tenth better than the younger, but the 18 (the only newbie last night) was awesome...i rated it hogher than the 30 and also upped my score of the 40 and older vis by a tenth. they went together soooooo well!
