The Brew-Thru is a novel concept that I discovered in PA last summer... pull through in your truck, someone tosses a case of beer in the back, pay the guy and drive right on through the garage... too cool. But, it does suck that you can't pick up a 6-pack at a gas station. PITA. [:(]

It's Kum & Go and they sell t-shirts and hats. They have their own line of beer brewed for them called Hiland. There is a light lager, a pale lager, an ice lager and a malt liquor. None are very good, but all are dirt cheap. [:D] You never know, some gas stations do have some random good beer. Royal Liquors in KC is a gas station and is one of the best stores in the city. I love running across good beer in random small town stations.

was in Royal just a few days ago, that place is a joke.. most of the beer is old and most people who work there looked/acted like glue sniffers... i really hope you are talking about a trip you took years ago because as of 4 days ago, one of worst beer establishments i have ever been too.. for a gas station, yes- amazing selection.. but having a great selection of old brews doesn't make it a good store... they had so many beers i wanted to buy then looked at the millimeters of dust on the bottles or the black sludge and had to move on..

Haven't been in a couple of years, must have gone downhill. The beer did seem a little slow to move back then, but I didn't hate the place. Usually when I was in KC I went to Riverside Red X or a Lukas. As a whole, KC has been improving and getting to where they should be with the size of the city.

Lukas is still totally legit, Gomers too .. . I think maybe because Lukas is 3-4 minutes away Royal gets killed in the beer department.. they have beer that's expired by 2-3 years, and that's beer on the top shelves and the BYO selections.. like i said, either glue sniffers, or now that i think about it, gasoline huffers...

There is a gas station in Ridgecrest, CA that has met the same fate. Used to be a great place to pick up beer...now everything in there is at least three years old.

The Chevron at my exit has a great beer and wine selection - and in date; those guys will get everything new that they can get their hands on (probably because they know I'll buy it) and take requests and do their best to fill it.

In Chicago in the 70s and 80s, you could buy 6 packs of Budweiser in laundromats
