Poll: Do you choose where to vacation based on the

Poll Discussion by FARGINGBASTIGE6

...location? Wife and kids usually dictate, but being the resourceful individual that I am, I can usually scope out a decent pub or two and score some decent beer.

I just manage with wherever we end up. You can find anything anywhere if you bother to try.
Not in Orlando, FL [xx(][:(!]- that place is a virtual beer hell. I tried several times to find good beers only to be thwarted and rejected each time. Bummer of a beer trip, great family vacation though. I even had a night pass from the wife to go an major beer searches - to no avail. Lesson: if you go to Orlando and vicinity on vacation, bring your own beers.

dude, you didn't do any beer research before you left? I had one of my best ever beer trips last year in Orlando.. Redlight Redlight is one of the best beer bars i've ever been to, and even won best beer bar in America a few years back... they get the most ridiculously hard to find stuff on tap... and their bottle list and prices are amazing! http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPlace.asp?PlaceID=4623 and Knightly Spirits bottleshop is packed full of awesome brews.. http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPlace.asp?PlaceID=17086 .. you seriously missed out on alot of stuff...

I really did do some research before I left! And when i got there. Maybe I used the wrong search descriptions or something because the two places you mentioned where not on my radar. Wish they would have been. C'est la vie.

Lots of great beer in Orlando, and I didn't need to use RateBeer or BeerPal. Just by walking into bars and asking for 'Cigar City' or something else extravagant they would always direct me someplace else. Eventually I had 6-8 places with great beer selections, and a great liquor store a mile or so from the airport.

I couldn't find any freaking bars! It was like an episode of Twilight Zone. I went to some pizza place that was supposed to have an "incredible tap list" only to find the damn thing had closed and turned into a night club. Went to 4 or 5 different liquor stores and even 3 or 4 grocery stores with absolutely no luck. I finally gave up.

I love BeerPal but as far as places/locations lookup- the info is just not comprehensive enough , love 'em or hate 'em... RB and BA have it covered... but... http://www.beerpal.com/compass/retailerinfo.asp?ID=8325 and http://www.beerpal.com/compass/retailerinfo.asp?ID=8344

I reckon that it just wasn't meant to be for me in Orlando. I really did search the BP site for places. Maybe I didn't stroke the keys correctly. The oranges were good. The Diet Coke was cold. I still have lots of really good beer in my stash.[:)]

Chose SF for a run this weekend so we could hit up City Beer and/or Beer Revolution and/or Social Kitchen, so once again, beer plays a role.
