Now it's been touched /changed - not stout but a flavored drink. If your into that kinda drink(like fruity beer) you may like a moca stout. I'll pass thankyou." That could be. When we duplicate or alias a beer it shows the reviews that are duplicated, but I don't think I ever told the crew what it meant!

Maybe they were for two different listings that were later consolidated.

the first two were right next to eachother...and stood out because they were way too low [:D]

Those two doubles have been deleted. I'm surprised you even caught them with 16 pages of reviews!
I'm guessing you must have sorted them by rating then, because they weren't next to each other by default. I'll have to make a little program to run through every beer and look for duplicate ratings because I'm sure these aren't the only ones!

I just flashed up a script to go through each user and look for duplicates since this was easier. It's slow and can only do 200 members every minute or so, but already I've found about 50 duplicates including two by me! This bothers me because I'm not sure every single beer that was duplicated really deserved to be duplicated. But it is funny that some people have 3 reviews of the same beer! Right now I'm copying the duplicates into a log to be handled later.
How does that even happen? When you are on a beer's review page, your initial review is sitting in the text box. All you can do is update/change/expand your review. Is this circumstance a result of some older coding from the site's humble beginnings?

The final count is 243 duplicates. All but 10 of the members with duplicates joined over 5 years ago, and most of the beers are old. I'll go through and delete the obvious ones in my spare time. Sometimes I need to ask the reviewer (if they are still active) if they have a preferred review to delete.
It can happen if we merge two beers due to duplicate entries or aliases. The reviews always get moved over, but the duplicate reviews can't be deleted automatically because you might end up deleting the wrong one. The person doing the merge sees a list of the duplicate reviews in the output, but there's also a lot of SQL crap on the same page so I doubt they know what it means.
