I've done Guinness and vanilla ice cream, but the addition of jameson may be just the ticket when I need "a little something to help me along my way".

best float beers I've had (gotta get high quality vanilla BEAN ice cream or you might as well get cheap beer too)... Young's Dbl Chocolate Stout (preferably the can) Rogue Chocolate Stout and surprisingly (since it's got Cayenne in it) Chocolate Yeti. Also, for a sweet tooth, Lindeman's Framboise makes a killer float, or 50/50 Lindemans and Youngs (as a float or just the two beers)!

I do not think spotted cow would work, unless you like grass and ice cream.

Try some sort of chunky ice cream with Tyranena Down N' Dirty Choclate Oatmeal Stout. I've down beer floats with that beer before and it was a huge success except it also had to do with the type of ice cream I paired it up with. Can't remember which.
