Samuel Adams Holiday Pack
General Beer Discussion by OIZNOP
Can someone please tell me what they think of the Cranberry Lambic brew made by Samuel Adams and if you think it should be a part of their holiday pack???.......I can't see where this is an Xmas beer.....Of course, the folks at Bostonian Brewing felt it necessary to slip in Sammy A Light into this pack as well....I am not real impressed with that decision.......Cranberry Lambic.....This is too fricken weird!

In Reply To #1 Cranberry Lambic? More like... Crapfairy... uh... Crapic. Yea, that'll do, very clever. It's a malternative as far as I'm concerned. I'd be really happy if they took the "Lambic" label off of that beer, it's a disgrace to all true lambics. It actually makes Lindeman's look good! Sam Light bothers me too, and this is why I refuse to buy sampler packs from BBC.

In Reply To #1 Guess they figure cranberry goes with the holiday. Or they needed a way to get rid of the stuff. I am not a SA fan. Although the Cranberry is better than Old Fezziwig or the Cream stout

I can definitely see the Cranberry beer being part of the Christmas pack. Cranberries... Christmas. As far as it being a real Lambic, I don't really know. I recently bought this variety pack and didn't really think the Cranberry Lambic or the Old Fezwig were particularly good though. They were fun to try and I saved one of each for when the Holiday rolls around. I was disappointed to see Sam Adams Light and their SA Lager in there. While I am a big fan of their standard Lager, what makes that a holiday brew? SA light? C'mon Sam Adams! They make a shit load of different beers you'd think they would put something in there that was more unique than the SA Lager and the LIght.

Exactly my point..The only reason I can think of for placing SA and SA Light in the pack is for marketing....I like SA....SA Light is pretty awful and should not be present in this holiday pack.....Also, the Cranberry Lambic is NOT a real lambic...It is a Wheat Beer with Cranberry and other fruit flavorings in it (ses so on the label)....I suppose you are correct with cranberry/Xmas relationship, but to call it a lambic is an insult to true belgian lambics that are spontaneously fermented and 10 times sweeter that this....Why can't they just call it Cranbeery Wheat?...Is it because Wheat Beers are associated with Summer?....Search me!

In Reply To #5 I don't really care what they call it, but agree they should call it what it is. So what if it's a Cranberry Wheat... it still can be associated with x-mas. Oh Sam Adams...
