Basketball beer trades

Beer Swapping by COTTRELL

Alright, basketball season is right around the corner. I proposed a fantasy league earlier, in which the winner would receive x amount of beer from each losing player. Crown and kissmybass both said they were in, now who else? Something I learned about fantasy basketball from years past, knowledge of the game does not equal a win. Trust me, there is a healthy amount of luck, and a whole lot of stat reading. Yahoo does an autodraft, and pre ranks the players for you, which you are free to change at your own will. So, if you know little about basketball, or want to learn about it, feel free to join in. It should be pretty fun. I'm thinking about an 8-12 person league. If I can't get enough people from this site, I can certainly find some more beer nerds elsewhere to join in. So, what do you guys think? 8-12 teams too many? What should we give away for prizes? Should winner take all, or should second and/or second and third take prizes as well? Feel free to post here or shoot me a beerpal mail.

In Reply To #1 Hey Cottrell, I would go with 12, theres alot of depth in the NBA. 3 places would fine for 12, and 2 places for 8-10 teams. I would try to get everyone to send something for the kitty to pay for the beers. If you place you get your money back in beer. Sounds good to me... Beer nerds only. Kissmybass(aka. In Reply To #3 No worries, I can get other beer/basketball fanatics from other places, just wanted to include you guys first. Everyone interested shoot me a mail and we'll go from there. As for collecting money, I don't really like the idea. I think it would be a pain in the ass to collect money from people all over the U.S. The way it'll work is that if you do not place, then you have to send 3 beers to the top finisher, 2 to the second finisher, and 1 to the third finisher. If you place you don't have to send anyone anything. So first place will get 27 beers from all over the U.S., 2nd place will get 18, and 3rd will get 9. Sounds awesome to me. Anyway, shoot me a mail, I'll open the league up to people from other beer sites as well. I must add that only active members should be allowed to participate, and I will not include anyone from any other site that I don't trust. I spend a lot of time on other sites, so I can guarantee everyone in this league will be pretty trustworthy.

In Reply To #3 I might be up for a NCAA basketball tournament beer wager, but I'm not an NBA fan.

In Reply To #5 I hear ya. To be honest, I'm not much of an NBA fan either. I much prefer college ball to the NBA, which is just a game between a bunch of people who don't care enough to play hard, since they make millions for sitting on a bench. [/endrant] And yes Brett, I too would be up for an NCAA b-ball tournament wager. I run a pool almost every year, and love it, I live for March. I can't wait to see how my Uconn stars do this year, I'll pick them both towards the end of the fantasy draft. My guess is neither will put up great stats, but Emeka could do some really great things if his back cooperates, and he gets the playing time.
