In Reply To #11 If you haven't gotten to try that Nodding Head Berliner Weisse yet, it's worth the drive. Man was that great stuff. Brandon Greenwood was very kind and I chatted with him a bit on his beers. His former GABF gold winning Grog was pretty damned good too. Some strange styles listed this year. Imperial Red Ale? Please, it's an imperial IPA with a darker color. English-style summer ale? Huh? Category 13: Beer with Yeast. WHAT?!? Strange... just strange.
Alright lets see here, so much went out, i don't know where to start. Arrived 7 pm Denver time and had the air port shuttle drop me off at Falling Rock. Had a couple there, and made it to the Executive Towers. Bout 30 of us gathered and we had a Stone Anniversary Vertical (3rd Ann IPA - 8th Ann ale) The 3rd, 4th and 5th were all very rare, the 3rd and 4rd were oxidized and past their prime. Central waters bourbon stout, Pizza Port Le Woody, and Mo Bretta Betta. Needless to say, i was up for 24 hours, till around 4 am Denver time. Got up at 9 am the next day.
Made it to the Convention at noon. Never have seen anything like it. A huge convention hall 3 X bigger than any other fest I have ever been to. the majority of my ratings have been over 4. I have them all typed out, I just need to find the time to put them on the site. That is really the only way I can describe what it was like. It was like nothing I have ever seen. Ended up scoring a brewers pass, and halfway through the night time session, I was drunk. Ended up pretending I was the brewer whose pass I was wearing. I supposedly won two medals, and also told the head brewer of Miller his beers suck. Ended up going to the Dr Bill party afterward at the Falling Rock, where even more beer was had. Saturday was a drunk night for me.
Took a 10 am plane back to Philly.
