Welcome to Beerpal! Was just checking out the lastest reviews, and 3 perfect ratings in one day! I'd be curious to talk to you in 2-3 months and see what you still think of those beers and what kind of impact beerpal has had on you! It's had a tremendous impact on me!

In Reply To #1 Well, in class again so I can't get into it with any depth, but here's my take. First of all, if you want to question the validity of someone else's reviews, send an alert to one of the BP crew members. Bringing it into the forums like this can be seen as an attack. I know that's not your intention, but if I saw this post about my reviews I'd be pretty ripped. He didn't give them perfect reviews, he gave them a perfect overall, and they averaged out to 4.7 or something like that. Although I don't think those particular beers should get high marks like that, bleary does, and he deserves to give them numbers as such. I know plenty of people that think Bud is the best beer out there. Is it ignorance? Maybe, but if my friends work all day so they can come home to a ice cold Bud for their pleasure, good for them. This site is trying to encourage opinion, and in bleary's opinion, Killian's is a great beer. From experiences on this site as well as others, I've found that people's first reviews are thin and very highly marked. As people stick around, the reviews gain in substance, and the marks are not always as high. If bleary sticks around as I hope he will, I would venture to guess the reviews would fit more into the averages over time. Hope all this made sense, hard to take notes and type at the same time. But anyway, welcome to the site bleary, cheers!

In Reply To #3 Whoaaa! Now, that is hardly what I meant. I'm absolutely not "attacking" anyone so get it out of your mind. I'm not. Period. Why is it okay for a BP Crew member to post something like this, but it's viewed as an attack if I do? It's true. Matter of fact, some of the guru's were getting quite pissed in other threads at "lesser" beers getting very high ratings. They felt it was throwing off the average. Bleary: I'm not at all attacking you. Just pointing something out that all of us have gone through. I gave Corona a "9" overall when I first joined - which of course was met with comments from the guru's that wasn't viewed as an attack. Sorry if you took this thread the wrong way.

In Reply To #2 I totally agree. In the matter of just a few months I find myself going through the beers, trying them again and changing the reviews either up or down. I just find it interesting what this site actually does for people. It's a good thing...

In Reply To #4 I can't recall a BP crew member every saying a name while talking about reviews like that. That's what makes it different. And re-read my original post, I acknowledged that you weren't trying to attack, but it could come across as so.

In Reply To #6 So it would have been okay if I posted that but didn't mention the name of the person? I'd actually rather someone do it like that rather than saying something that's obviously directed at you but they claim otherwise. I think you know what I mean... Seriously, it can only come across like that if the person is looking for it. I did re-read what I posted and it was not harsh in the least. I don't think people are nearly as sensitive as you guys seem to think so. And if they are then they've got much more to worry about than a couple harmless comments on a beer site.

In Reply To #7 I just think a post that simply addressed high ratings by new users would have been fine, without naming names. Bleary is hardly the first to write reviews like this, and it's unfair for his name to be mentioned in a post like this. The last thing we want is for a member to feel like his every review is going to be analyzed, as this is supposed to be relaxed community. But anyway, let's say we drop this subject altogether, grab a beer, because it's Friday and all my classes are done. Sound good? "Hell yea, let's get stink-o!" - Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

In Reply To #3 "But anyway, welcome to the site bleary, cheers!" Yes, welcome, Bleary! We're all just travellers here on the road to Beer Nirvana. Have fun, stick around, you'll be glad you did! By the way, one of the suggestions I have turned in to the BP Crew is that we introduce newest members on the home page. I think it would be great if we had a more organized welcome, like if you got a dozen beer mails from the old guard and made friends quickly. Flash is working on it. Bleary, I wouldn't have met you had Southern not challenged you here in the forum. Maybe there's a better way to be introduced, but we're all friends here. Using a sports analogy--no harm, no foul, and the ball's in your court... So, why IS Killian's such an effing awesome beer?

In Reply To #9 I read earlier on his beer page that Smithwick's is one of his favorites. It's my favorite brown and my favorite session beer of all time, so I think his tastes are right on the money!

In Reply To #8 Point taken. Never intended for it to be that way... Maybe I'll edit that post so it sounds better. It's Saturday now... and let's still grab beers because chances are you don't have classes this weekend and I don't have to work until Monday. Sounds great.
