The Skunk Beer Project
General Beer Discussion by CLASH
I was thinking about this one tonight. I hate green bottle skunk but my question is....how skunked can I get it? So I was thinking about getting some beer that easily skunks like say Rolling Rock and doing the following.... Leave it outside all year long Put one under a lamp Heat one up to a high temp on a semi daily basis for a year Set one next to a window Put it in a clear bottle And do a vertical "tasting" after a year of abuse. And pray they dont explode as well.

Leave it in the trunk for the summer. This fall, drive to an Abbey. Go inside with the beer, sneak into one of the cells during Vespers or whatever, and climb up to the upper rack of a bunk bed. Git in theh an staht drinkin'. When the surprised monk returns to his room and finds you there, you can say: "Don't worry, monk, I'm not a punk, I'm getting drunk in a bunk on the skunk from my trunk." Just a thought.
I remember a topic about this from at least a year ago. I proposed a similar test, but only with a one month timeline. I think a year would be overkill! Even a well stored lager will suffer after a year.

LOL, I just had to laugh when I saw the google ads for this thread right now: Skunk-Off Shampoo & Spray Stops skunk odor instantly and permantly on contact. Low prices. Almost as funny is the spelling mistake in the ad

At the risk of pointing out something rather...uh...indelicate, just imagine the gas after drinking such beers. Don't light a match!
Yikes. I may have inadvertantly joined you in your experiment. I just discovered a six-pack of Heineken out in the garage. I know for a fact it's been sitting out there for two weeks (my wife, inexplicably, likes Heineken). Two weeks in a sealed garage in Texas summer heat. I may crack one open tonight just for ****s and giggles. If you hear a scream of agony, you'll know how it turned out[xx(].
I bet it won't be that much worse after two weeks [:p] Here in PA there are distributors that keep their beer without air conditioning. (If you're unfamiliar with our laws: beer is only sold by beer distributors, and by the case. Unless it's a bar or restaurant). Just about all the beer distributors are warehouse-like in construction and they usually only put some swill beer in the walk-in fridges. That means everything else can get into the 90's in the summer [B)]. Also, don't forget that most out of state beers are probably shipped by truck, and imports by cargo ships. I guarantee you that many beers see 100+ degrees farenheit in these containers. I had a job unloading them once [xx(] I'd be more worried if the beer was in direct light than steady heat.
