Anyone collect them??....I would like to, especially the tried and true authentic German/Bavarian steins...I found this really cool site www.germanmart.com which sells beer steins, but man are they expensive!....The detailing of the artwork on some of those steins is incredible.....If anyone of yunz guys collect them and know where some can be found at a good price, let me know... Oiz

I don't yet collect them, but a friend's dad has a huge collection, I'll be sure to ask where he acquired them all.

I tell ya, I have never seen anyone drink out of a fancy bier stein here in Deutschland! They are kinda like Ku Ku Klocks (KuKu Uhren); mostly bought by tourist, and end up sitting on shelves gathering dust. This is not to say they are not works of art, but it is to say they are a bit delicate for everyday use. Try to find a "krug" which is a simple bier stein (stone)with or with out the hinged lid. I swear they keep bier better then any glass Mass or half liter glass I have ever used. Since you can't see through em, the locals lay them on their side when finished, and want another brew (nach mal-after somtimes). If you don't do this, it can be a good while before you are asked if you want another brew, as unlike the states, you are renting the table and are a guest, no hurry to drink up and clear out...
