Hey all. I'm new to this Craft beer stuff and find it hard to do a review but i know what I LIKE. I had Merry Monks' for the first time tonight and usualy I just have one beer but I just had to have another one of these. This Craft beer stuff has opend up a whole new world of taste and enjoyment for me. Have you all been threw this evolution of Craft beer? Paul

I used to drink mass produced lagers all the time until a friend at work turned me to the thousands of other options. A lot of the styles that were new to me didn't sit well with my taste buds at first. It will probably take time to get to know and love everything out there, so don't give up! Just keep trying new things as often as you can!
Yeah, Weyerbacher Merry Monks is a GREAT brew. If your new to craft brews, there a a bunch of micros around the country that make beers in a simlar style to "Merry Monks". One you may want to try (that, incidentally is also from PA) is Stoudt's Tripel. This brew has a similar flavor etc. to the one you mention. Also, as I've stated at least three times on forum postings I went through a crap beer phase myself at the beginning - and I occasionally do still drink swill water lagers. You know, I always suspected in those days that there was something better out there - now I know.
I think it's safe to say that we all have gone through that "Crap Beer" phase. It usually happens in our twenties when we are trying to impress the opposite sex and are just looking to party. Not so much for taste in our beer. Which is why so many of the T & A beers are marketed to people in there 20s with, well, T & A! Yeah that's ok to look at, but the quality in the product sure isn't there! Oiz
