The Churchyard Ale is a strong/scotch ale. Large amounts of two-row pale gives this deep mahogoney hued ale a prominent malt flavor ending with an obvious alcohol influence. This strong ale is bittered with Bullion hops and finished with Willamete hops.

Sampler. Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Aroma of coffee, but not very strong. Flavor was almost like a porter with some coffee undertones, but a sweetness I couldn't place. I was actually a fan of this one. I'd recommend it.

Sampled at the brewpub. Poured a black colot with a light brown head. Nice lacing. Aroma was weak but had coffee to it. Flavor was complex, at it had both a coffee and apricot flavor to it. Very unique. Not bad, just odd.

Bitter on the tounge, darker in color than expected, smells of sweaty socks, dry in the finish. In other words, not particularly easy to enjoy. Unless one likes the taste of chewing tobacco—but not Copenhagen, more like Kodiak. (Don't ask me how I know that.)
