Introducing ROSE MOFFORD, a 12% Mead BA Imperial Stout... Our latest venture into @superstitionmeadery BA stout. This time blended with 50% Weller Whiskey BA stout. Something we have yet to experiment with outside of the blending table. The end result is exceptional decadence. A 2 year old Predation base aged in Aphrodisia (a Belgian dark candy syrup mead), and a 12 month old standard wren style imperial stout aged in a Weller Whiskey barrel. These two barrels melded together wonderfully. We then decided to let it rest it on crushed hand roasted hazelnuts, Madagascar vanilla beans, Ghanaian cocoa nibs, and just a subtle light addition of cinnamon. A Nutella s’mores experience. Soft sweet mead-like body with big booze Weller whiskey to balance. An oak aged treat. Big thanks to our friends at Horus Aged Ales & Superstition Meadery for helping projects like this come to fruition.

Rated Dec. 2020. 12oz green waxed bottle pours with an inky deep dark void of a body that never really gains a head or even bubbles. The aroma offers up an inviting blend of dark chocolate, vanilla and a vague sense of nuttiness. The taste delivers a smooth slick yet supple dark chocolate velvety yum that washes across the palate with ease. To midway a woven blend of mild nuttiness and vanilla bean are noticed. Toward the finish it picks up modest dark chocolate smoothed whiskey like barrel character and a faint abv warming to go along with it. Another sip reveals a slender hidden realm of dark berry and fig like sweet fruity esters that create further depth and interest. This comes together beautifully. Great sipper.
