This time around we utilized our super thick stout base and laid it to rest in a Superstition Meadery Devour the Sun barrel. Devour the Sun is a double barrel aged mead that was made with blue mountain coffee roasted by Mostra, marshmallow fluff, vanilla, chocolate, dark Belgian candi sugar, macadamia nuts, and coconut. Definitely important to remember that we did NOT use any adjuncts in this stout, however, the adjuncts from the mead carry over well. Not to the point of saturating you with pastry flavor, but subtle and complex—only causing you to take sip after sip trying to dissect all the flavors.

Rated Sept. 2020. 12oz thick orange waxed bottle pours with a dark dark chocolate mahogany colored body that supports a thin ring of tan foam. The aroma offers up chocolate, dark roasted malts, muted oak and a bit of a blueberry like sensation. The taste delivers a blend of chocolate, dark roasted malts, sweet thick like malts and a vague sense of dark colored berries. To midway a flash of velvety dark chocolate is noticed before malts and sweeter notes take over. It isn't as thick and luscious as other other Wren offerings and that's ok. It's nice with little of the big ABV noticeable.
