Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! At 6.6% abv, this light and fruity ale is black in color, although your palate would never know it. Black Angel is fermented on the Wicked Wild yeast and then moved into stripped down Four Roses Barrels and aged on tart cherries, sweet cherries and Italian plums. The white oak and roast malt add notes of vanilla and graham-cracker that, when blended with the tart sweetness of the fruit, bring out a robust cherry pie flavor.

Pours a rich coffee brown with a thick light tan head. Smoked malt and coffee aroma has an overtone of sour cherry. Lively, sour flavor has coffee and cherry notes, hints of coffee, and quite a sour bite! Mouthfeel is nothing special, but leaves a nice sour fruit finish. Angelic.

Tasting at Rockwell Tavern. One realy has to get used to this beer. First sip is wow, this is sour, but then it turns into a nice sour beer with tons of flavors. (Houston 201501)

On tap in the downstairs tasting room @ Wicked Weed in Asheville. Reddish black pour, slight pinkish off-white head, nice lacing. Tart cherry aroma and flavor upfront, then subtle bourbon, more cherries - sour and tart - but not overpwoering or mouth-puckeringly so, rich ripe fruits, Belgian funky yeasts, lovely Bourbon and light sour linger. Wicked is right! These guys know what they're doing. This the THE upstart/HOT brewery in North Carolina and the South. Damn good brew. "She's My Cherry Pie..."
