Westmalle Tripel is a clear, golden yellow Trappist beer that undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle (9,5% alcohol). It is a complex beer with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional beer, with a great deal of finesse and elegance. And with a splendid long aftertaste. he Westmalle Tripel is indeed called the “mother of all tripels”. This type of beer was first brewed in Westmalle abbey in 1934 when the new brewing hall came into use. The current formula has stayed practically unchanged since 1956, thus more than 50 years. his beer is generally served in 33 cl bottles, precisely the volume of the accompanying glass goblet. The bottles are sold individually, in handy packs of six or in crates of 24 bottles. And of course this beer is served in the better horeca outlets.

The beer poured a murky gold colour into a chalice glass with a thin white head that dissipated quickly. The aroma was very yeasty, with some malt and cloves. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and slightly champagne in nature. The flavour was that of yeast, malt, and cloves with a dry finish.

Pours a huge frothy white head and has a hazy golden appearance. Very thick lacing. Lively carbonation. Aromas are mostly yeast, malts and orange peel. Flavours are big yeasty and spice notes. Also lots of citrusy and some hints of herbal hops. Full bodied mouthfeel. Quite a lot of bitterness on the palate. Good stuff.

Pours a golden amber with a massive 3 finger head that takes its sweet ass time. Tornado of carbonation in the bottom of the glass. Lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity, think honey crisp apples. Slightly spicy hints to this one as well. First taste has spice to it along with a strong hint of what can be described as the aftertaste of christmas cookies. Taste is slightly mettalic also along with its bitterness. Finishes off with taste continuing along with a slight dryness. Also ha s awarm burn as it settles in the gut. This is a damn good looking beer, also very solid. Not a beer for those of us with facial hair.

Initially clear, but when poored out completely hazy golden light orange color with nice foam head. Nice bitter taste with some caramel and orange. High alcohol, but that is not killing taste. Good beer. (Velp 201110)

Nice! Of the 7 authentic trappist breweries, this Westmalle Tripel, along with Orval's offering, are the tamest, easiest way to experience the fine religious drinks. This one has a fine carbonation and a little bitterness, which is different, and better to me than a standard lager's hoppy sour taste. A fiue ale with aged cheeses, as well as any fried, oily, greasy foods. I would definitely use this to introduce good friend to the Trappist line of drinks. Standard lager drinkers should be able to appreciate Westmalle, and it won't break your wallet! Recommended!

What an amazing beer. Tripels can be all over the place, especially with their yeasty qualities but this one was perfect. A beautiful golden pour, slight haze in the glass, topped off with a huge head of tan colored bubbles. A lot of spice and citrusy notes fill the air, along with some floral hoppish scents and sweet grains. The flavor comes in like a nice dry white wine...except flavored. The spice and citrus hit the spot!

Best by 2012 so there's still plenty of time left within this bottle. A very bready, spicy, and yeasty aroma. Vibrant golden yellow with a medium sized head and spotty lacing. Exceptionally smooth with a very firm bitter bite, totally unexpected and very welcoming. Flavor is biscuits, noble hops, spicy yeast and a very mild and light fruitiness. Not your typical tripel and that's just fine by me.
