We collaborated again with Corey Blodgett, the ex-Oregon brewer now in charge at Maritime Pacific in Seattle. Both of us were feeling like making a hoppy brew instead of the malt forward recipe from 2010, so we made a Belgian-style pale ale with tons of liberty and tettnanger hops. The beer is deep gold in color and has a big nose that oddly has dark berry aromatics underneath the huge hoppiness, finishing extra dry and chalky with some lasting bitterness.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Sampled on 9/10/2011 at Beer Revolution. This Belgian Ale pours a slightly cloudy orange gold color from the tap. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet, with a touch of yeast, some oak and maybe a touch of funk. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Funky and yeasty. Touch of wood and some must. An interesting combination of flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
