In February 1994, after 18 months of research, Unibroue launched La Fin du Monde (the end of the world). It is a 9 percent alcohol, triple fermentation beer. This type of beer was originally developed by the monks of the Middle Ages to be served on special occasions. La Fin du Monde is a deluxe beer made by triple fermentation and a unique way of straining the yeast. This method produces an unexpectedly subtle flavour. With its champagne-like effervescence, it has a vigourous presence in the mouth, which accentuates its strong personality. Slightly tart, with the balanced flavours of wild spices, malt and hops, it belongs to the class of great Trappist beers and, in this regard, is a North American first. At meals, it can replace white or red wines and enhances the flavour of most dishes. This beer is brewed to honour of the great explorers, who believed they had reached the end of the world when they discovered America. Origin: Chambly, Quebec Brewed since: February 1994 ABV: 9.0% Fermentation: Top Style: Triple-style Golden Ale Color: Blonde with a golden hue SRM: 5.5 Clarity: Sightly cloudy Head: White, creamy, generous Bubbles :Champaign-like Effervescence: Slow Nose: Floral bouquet, aromas of honey, spice, coriander, malt, and alcohol Flavor: Mildly yeasty with a complex palate of malt, fruit and spice notes followed by a smooth, dry finish IBU: 19 Body: Medium Aftertaste: Pleasantly lingers on with a warm finish Suggested serving temperature: 12 º–14 ºC / 53°- 57°F Suggested glass: Tulip

In a tulip glass. Beautiful dark cloudy yellow with a nice foamy head and lace. The aroma hit me as I opened the cork. Kind of a yeasty clove even before I poured it. Refreshing light dry malt taste with a twist of citrus. This is something Macro drinkers would probably even like. The hops nor the malt slaps you. I like the balance. One of my favorite brews. Smooth smooth smoooth! Smooth and foamy mouthfeel tops off the great taste experience. Goes down easy. No problem drinking a bomber by myself. Even with the high ABV this beer goes fast and easy. Did I say smooth.

Bottle. Colour – light amber, slight haze, generous foamy white cap, good lacing. Aroma – spices, yeast, grains, and alcohol. Mouthfeel – Medium to Full Bodied, well carbonated. Flavour – citrus fruit, spices, yeast, and alcohol. The alcohol is not well hidden in this beer and that makes the score suffer.

Pours a hazy golden color with fluffy white head. Citrus, wheat, yeast, banana and clove aromas. Tastes as it smells, with yeast hanging around to the very end. The ample carbonation makes each mouthful tingle with its complex flavor profile. Alcohol is virtually undetectable, making this a potentially dangerous beer. Great stuff. Will need to try this in the summer, as it seems that it would be refreshing beer in the warmer months. New to the style, but I certainly understand why this beer is so highly regarded.

Pours hazy gold with frothy white head with decent retention and attractive lacing. Aroma is orange, honey, grass, spice. Evolves on the palate with lemon, coriander and biscuit notes joining the others. Satisfying mouthfeel, full but not filling, ebullient but not overpowering carbonation.

Opaque golden orange with small off-white foam ring. Orange, and mango aroma, some barley. Decent strong beer taste, again some soft fruits notes. Short aftertaste. (Houston 201408)

Have a glass ready to pour this sucker or you will be chugging it out of the bottle.i popped the top and didn't have a glass ready and it started foaming out of the bottle.I had a good head rush from the high abv by the time I got it poured in a glass. Now for my review, out of the glass it's cloudy and burnt orange in color. It taste like a Belgium beer not a beer from Canada. Very thick mouthfeel and very smooth withs tons of malt flavor.

Cork went off like a .50 cal! Pours into the glass just like pineapple juice with a one finger head that stays for a bit. Carbonation is unbelievable! Aroma actually reminds me of a heffe. Hints of lemon, banana, yeast, and cloves. Taste starts of fairly mild then gradually hits with the cloves and a smidgen of metal. Booze is evident but not at all overpowering, just a little burn on the way down. Body is very creamy which is a surprise since most are dryer because of the booze. For a trippel this is a very drinkable beer. Even when a little warm it is still good. Very nice beer. “You’re French and Canadian? So you’re obnoxious and dull.”

Pours a light hazy golden colour. White tight bubbly head with good retention. Citrus and spice aroma. Thin mouthfeel but big flavour. Quite tart and fruity. Citrus, yeast, and spices. This beers rating goes up as it warms and the glass empties.

Poured a nice moderate size head, very bubbly. Gives way to a very hazy darker yellow/orangey look. Aroma is quite strong, of yeast and about the same as flavour. Citrus flavours are quite abundant, hoppy, wheaty. A tingly aftertaste, a little tangy also. A great starting off point, but not a constant one-after-the-other kinda beer (9%!) Great stuff though!

Pours a hazy golden amber body with slight orange tint. Thin head although the near fizzling carbonation keeps head through most of the drink. The aroma is of strong Belgian yeast accompanied by light citrus fruit, clove, caramel and biscuit. The taste is delicious and complex tripel, light yet full of flavor. Taste mirrors smell with great balance. Each sip brings new flavors to the front. Delicious finish and is highly carbonated.
