A complex blend of flavors. The rich caramel and toffee flavors of Sheep Shagger Scotch Ale symphonize with the oak, bourbon, and vanilla flavors bestowed by the barrel.

Another Wisconsin beer and wishlist item from pfoxyjohn. One of the best beer names EVER. Pours a cloudy medium brown, thinnish, with little head nor lacing. Pretty flat on the carbonation. Nice Bourbon nose, with oaken vanilla, caramel, sweet malts, not much peat but still decidedly Scottish. Taste is lighter on the Bourbon than the nose would indicate, but it's still present, vanilla, sweet malts, toffee, and tasty goodness in this brew - very nice as it warms. Could drink this often: Big thanks to John! Loved it.

4-pack brought back from a great little shop in Chicago. Filmy head atop an amber brown body. Great scent of whiskey, peat, vanilla, and caramel. Medium bodied and quaffable with a soft finish. Flavor falls in line with the aroma. Mild barrel influence adds just enough to still let a quality scotch ale shine through.

i'll never tire of the barel aging "trend". this beer takes the already very good sheep shagger and adds a bit of peppery bourbon, an even smoother body, and vanilla and oak. excellent. another pfoxyjohn brew.

On tap at the OF: Pours a dark reddish brown with an instant caramel nose. Taste is sweet, subtle bourbon, but noticeable for sure. Clean, smooth and rich with decent smokey notes and generous amounts of roasted malts and dark fruit.

Nice burnt red color with a wispy head. Aroma is quite subtle with hints of malt and bourbon. Mouthfeel is quite lively and carbonated. Good scotch ale flavors with minimal peat and some thick maltiness.
