A jet black colored beer with a big frothy textured brown head rising above. There's limited hang time on the head. A thin ringlet is left. Roasted malt and a bitter coffee are in the total profile. There's some dark fruitiness in the tasting as an aftertaste. Strong in the nose. Medium bodied and resin slickness.

Imperial Stouts are one of my favorite styles of beer, especially during a long, brutal winter like this one. I have had beers from Two Brothers previously, but I had never heard of Northwind before. It pours dark brown with a small tan head into a pint glass. Smell is dominated by coffee and roasted malt, with a hint of carob. Flavor is similar to the smell, but not nearly as strong. The bottle says that the abv is 9.1%, which is totally undetectable. I don't taste any alcohol. Mouthfeel is very thin for an imperial stout. I've had milk stouts and porters with a fuller, thicker mouthfeel. With so many Imperial Stouts to try, I guess I should do my research BEFORE buying. A bit of a disappointment, especially at $12/6 pack.

A lighter imperial stout for sure but still had touches of the style and it was still pretty tasty, albeit a bit over-sweet. Not a frontrunner for the style but easy drinking and not at all off putting.

Pours a jet black with a one finger chocolate milk colored head that takes its time. No light has any chance of passing through this beer. Aroma is malty with a hint of what can be only described at is scope mouthwash. taste id malty and has a slight toffee flavor to it. Finishes off metallic at first but levels off. Actually a nice light Impy. Easy going down.

dark brown, medium foam .. . light tar and burnt nuts. .. quite a light mouth, nothing to filling .. . middle of the road, it was enjoyable but didn't quite stack up to the other stouts of the night .. . Are you Doobie Keebler?

Pours out in an opaque black colour with no head, just some tiny bubbles floating around. Anonymous and rather sweet aroma of cold coffee and crystallized sugar. Nearly full-bodied with sweet but flat notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar and molasses. Rather stale mouthfeel. Molasses and cocoa in the sweet aftertaste. A mediocre Impy, this.

Bottled@Monks Café Sveavägen, Stockholm. Quite much pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, toasted malts, toffee and some mild ashyness as well. Flavour is quite similar. Yet being quite balanced.

Quite a let down, especially for the style. Dark, cola colored body with little to no head and spotty lacing. Decent aroma of toast, coffee and raisins. Medium to thin for style, sweet with a burnt finish. Flavors of raisin, plum, nutty toast, chocolate and coffee. Yawn, it's a solid stout but not imperial in any way.

I've been pretty happy with the selection of Two Brothers beers I've picked up so far, but i found this one a little dissapointing. Pours a dark black colour with a huge brown head. Aroma has noticeable coffee and smoke on the nose, with soft roasted malts. Taste is very metallicy from start to finish. I think that turned me off the most. Flavors of wood, chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is decent, but i couldn't get that metallic out of my mouth.

Pours with a black body topped by a thin to medium thick, light brown head with some lacing. It’s slightly sour up front with a touch of sweet malt, a little roast and a light underlying coffee notes. Light bodied for an imperial stout, smootha nd a touch dry.
