Instead of the old 8° tripel, the Prior is the newest abbey-offering by Haacht. A vigorous beer, refermentated within the bottle, with a golden yellow colour and a white, creamy head. It has a hoppy aroma with a spicy and fruity touch. And its smooth début followed by a mild bitterness, guarantees an outspoken flavour.

Aromas of lemon or lemon zest are most noticeable on the schnoz. Rock solid white head with a fizzy yellow hue is present. On the buds, nothing special. Citrus like, and floral with yeast like notes. Reminded me of Duvel only not a ballsy. Not familiar until now, but I can't help but wonder if I saw this brand in one of the late Mike Jackson's Belgian books. Time to consult the research department.

Somewhat darker color with good lasting sticking foam head. Somewhat tickling on tongue and nice taste, some sweet fruits (banana, prune) but also bitter. Good dry, and pretty alcohol content (Velp, 201112)

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 9%. Fairly clear yellow colour, huge white head. Strong sweetish aroma of ripe bananas, coriander and Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is spicy and rather sweet, okay but not really remarkable. A hint of anise in the aftertaste.
