Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8
Bottled 12/16/2014. Received as a Christmas present. Pours an opaque dark brown with a foamy 2 finger head that leave some sticky lacing on the sides of the glass. Aromas of roasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, bit of pine and hint of booze. Chocolate dominates the flavor with the roasted malt and coffee hanging in the background. Just a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for an imperial stout. Since this beer is 6 months old, the hops have faded almost out of the picture. Still very good, but I probably should have opened this thing 6 months ago to get the hoppiness that this beer is known for. Since I live close enough to visit the brewpub, I will pick up a fresh bottle when it's available to check it out. Still very good. I find it funny that during the hottest part of the Spring, my last 3 reviews have been 2 Imperial Stouts and an Imperial Porter. How does that work? ;)

Dark brown pour with tan head that thins too quickly. Good lacing. Close your eyes and you would think you were drinking an ipa. Very piney and cat pee aroma. Hops dominate the flavour and taste floral and piney. Roasted malt and chocolate play second fiddle. Mouthfeel not as full as expected. Kind of an odd beer but enjoyable. Black ipa me thinks. Flavour of after burps, not good.
