Sampled on tap June 2005
This beer is a brilliantly clear, pale gold color and is topped by a frothy white head that is quite creamy in texture. There is a light aroma of spicy hops, and a hint of clean grain. This beer has a nice soft sweet grain character to it, but that is not all. A subtle spiciness, plus a bit of herbal character, runs throughout, and it finishes with a nice complimenting bitterness that is a bit more than I was expecting in a Kölsch. This is quite quaffable, and quite clean too, thought there is a hint of creamy fruitiness here. This is a really nice example of a Kölsch, and is certainly the best commercial one I have ever had.
