White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

750ml wine-bottle size from BCLDB Nordel Crossing. Far and away the most expensive beer I've yet purchased. Clear amber/copper pour, smallish white head. Boozy (bourbon) aroma, along with what seemed to me dark fruits. Solid mouthfeel. Flavour had the bourbon notes, plus maybe raisins. No bitterness to speak of. Mildly sweet finish. Worth the $? Maybe, but I did enjoy it, although I don't many more of these in my future.

At first this kind of tastes like a strong golden ale, but then the flavors get a lot more complex. Coconut flavors and some fruity pineapple building towards the end. Light bourbon but not overly sweet, as there is enough sweetness as there is. Light caramel balanced with well will medium amount of hops. If this wasn't so damn expensive, I'd probably buy it again!

Bottle pour into a snifter - strong burst of carbonation and a very hazy yellow/orange color. Strong aromas of sweet lemon - for some reason it smells like a fruit roll-up to me - that's what I keep coming back to. Massive flavors of caramal, coconut, vanilla, and a nice finish of sharp bourbon. This is an interesting beer. The strong carbonation lends to good drinkability and the high ABV is barely noticeable. I really, really enjoyed it as the bourbon really played well with the caramel sweetness.

Quite interesting. Pours a crisp golden amber with a lilty white head. Lots going on inside, mostly sweet with touches of citrus and floral. Clean finish. Liked it a lot.

a barleywine. ok. i guess i can see that, though i was really wondering just how the hell this beer was going to be classed, since "party in a bottle!" is not a catergory. it is a wheat beer, though, so maybe a wheatwine? simply put, this beer is amazing. the layers upon layers of aroma and flavor! vanilla from the oak and bourbon. boozy but not at ALL hot. tropical fruit up the wazoo (i'm assuming from the white oak) but i'd never had the combo of bourbony goodness, vanilla, caramel, malt, and fruit before. just a great beer! don't know where the hell it came from, but i'd LOVE to find it again.

Sampled on 2/5/2010. This wheat wine/barley wine pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is vanilla, oak, bourbon and malty with some orange. A medium to full bodied wheat wine. The malts are fruity, caramel, and sweet, with a lot of orange and orange peel. The hops are citrusy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. A nice balance/blend between the wheat wine and the barrel aged beer. More oak, bourbon and vanilla in the aroma than the taste, although there is a bunch of bourbon and oak at the finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with just of a touch of alcohol bite.
