One of the more classic beers we’ve ever brewed here, The Workman’s Friend is our take on an Imperial Porter. Dark and creamy with flavors of roasted coffee and bitter chocolate peaking through the well hidden 8% abv. There is hardly a better beer to sit down with at the end of a winter work day.

Tasted at the big “SeaBass has got to go” tasting. Pours up deep and dark with thin tan head. The aroma is a mix of black strap molasses, dark roasted malts and a touch of vanilla. The taste is pretty smooth with some dark roasted malts and molasses each playing well together. I’m also getting a little roasted malt astringency about midway that leans toward drying this out some. Into the finish it picks up additional notes of chocolate and molasses covered coffee beans

Bottle: Bottle was a gusher! Poured a Black brown with tan head. Aroma is huge smoke and roast. Taste was roast very Smokey some band aid, but drinkable. Obviously this was a bit past its best by drink date.
