Cacaonut is a special treat. A rare and secret blend of several different barrel aged beers that we’ve pulled from our cellar along with toasted coconut and cacao nibs from San Francisco’s TCHO. The inspiration for this beer were the unique flavors of a chocolate dipped coconut macaroon. After polishing off a few of those dense, sweet and delicious, coconut treats, Patrick started thinking through the flavor profiles of some of our favorite barrel aged beers, deciphering a way to replicate the luscious qualities of that favorite treat. Spice, rich toffee, cocoa and tropical notes blend deliciously and delicately in this newest barrel aged addition to our collection.

Man, this was close to being a world beater...and I trhink it would have been if it were not one of the "bad" ones. The Bruery did a press release about some bottles of this and one other beer possibly being infected. This was. It did not explode, and did not smell off, but damn there was a highly acidic sourness in the flavor that I really don't think was supposed to be there. The funny thing is even their mistakes are good. It still worked to an extent, but the funk not present in the aroma told us how awesome this COULD have been, and the extreme swings from sweet decadence to sour were battling for your attention, not really complimenting each other. The nose was like macaroons and bourbon, friggin awesome. The beer itself was a bit on the ugly side. Quite a bit of sediment on the first pour as opposed to the bottom (weird). Muddy brown. The palate is nice, though the flavor ends up having too many things going on for it's own good. Still enjoyed it. If thesweetness were tempered, it'd be a great sour...but alas, they weren't trying to make a sour here. I'd LOVE to get to try this either draft or a different batch. It coulda been a contender...

On tap at 10 East. Sweetness dominates both the aroma and the flavor. Vanilla, maple syrup, toasted coconut, bourbon and bread pudding found everywhere. Really tasty, super sweet and it packs a serious punch.
