This bottle is from 2014. It pours a dark black color with a thin brown head. First thing you smell is the bourbon, then after that a hint of cherry and vanilla among the roasted malty notes. As with most bourbon barrel aged beers, the mouthfeel is on the thin side of full bodied. The bourbon is very prevalent in the flavour.

Pours deep, rich sable with buttery tan head. Aroma has strong bourbon-soaked wood overtone plus malty and molasses hints. Flavor is quite sweet, molasses plus bourbon plus wood plus semi-sweet chocolate. Firm, viscous texture has decent fizz.

viscous, big in every way. the ONLY knock is that it may have been even better at a "restrained" 13 or 14% as opposed to nearly 19% for the 2011 batch. Still, for a beer that strong the alcohol was not overbearing, just a little more of a player than i'd like. Chewy feel...loads of vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, dark fruit, roasted malt, hops (no not really:)). A very nice brew that is definitely overhyped, but that's not really their fault. another i'm glad i did not pay for :)

This is one hell of a stout. A beautiful black pour with a brown creamy head. Lots of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla in the aroma. Flavour was intense with hints of butterscotch, licorice, coffee, vanilla, and wood. A very smooth experience

2010 release, found it's way into one of our vertical tasting events. Although we only sampled the one bottle, I was impressed enough to take some notes. Overall impression is that this reminded me of Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout in many ways. Full of roasted malt, chocolate, tobacco, rum, dark fruits, nuts and wood. Smooth and very full bodied with an enjoyable sweetness. Others in attendance who have had previous bottles all agreed this year is much better then the initial release and I'll just have to believe them. Glad I was able to enjoy this rare treat.

Sampled at GABF on 9/18/2010. This Imperial Stout pours a deep black color from the tap. Medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and woody with some alcohol. A full bodied Imperial Stout. A VERY BIG Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, some bourbon and some cherry. The hops are herbal. This beer has a big alcohol presence, I mean a whole lot of alcohol, the first sip and smell are dominated by the alcohol, after that the other flavors start coming through. There is a nice mix of malts, sweetness, vanilla and wood going on here, once you get past the big alcohol blast. This beer has an awesome potential for aging. It is very good now, but a couple or five years of bottle aging would make this beer even more amazing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottled@The Chriso Gaylord tasting. Deep ambery, close to black, colour with small head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, dark fruits, some ashes as well as some vanilla and plum. Flavour is liquorice, caramel malts, mildly smoked wood, plum, some vanilla as well as mild ashes, nuts and some alcohol. Complex, and just lovely. Apparently there are still some very very nice imperial stouts out there...
