Fresh Dry Hopped Double Red Ale. Looking to drain the main vein on a 420 mile road trip, el Danko casually slipped into the dankest Nugget hop field known to man. Stupefied by the pungent aromas, his eyes rolled back as he fell into a sea of sticky buds. After 4 days of being pinned to the vines, he thought he was a goner. Believing he was hallucinating as every woodland creature, horny toad, and Sasquatch rushed past his stuck self, he suddenly became petrified as he witnessed a million army ants marching his way devouring everything in their path. He said one last Hail Mary as the ants began to chew on him and the vines. With one final gasp, he jerked free and hauled balls out of the field with biting ants and sticky hops covering his pruned body. Desperately in search of ant bite relief he belly flopped in the 1st oasis he saw, which was a fermenter at SweetWater. Fuddied up, el Danko’s teabag plunge turned this brew into a double red from the bleeding ant bites, and dry hopped this bad boy from the fresh Nugget hops that were stuck to his pitiful self.

This poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma contained some caramel, yeasty notes, and citrus. The flavor is slightly hoppy but has a nice malty balance. Some dark fruits, caramel, and citrus is showing up. The finish has a slightly boozy presence with a hint of bitterness. Overall this was a fairly nice beer.

Holy Fresh Dry Hopped Double Red Ale, Batman! Thanks to KnoxBeerCrew founding member @MattCrowell for trading me this beauty. Deep ruby amber pour with a tall, tight creamy head, tons of lacing. Earthy dank huge hopped aroma, herbal and floral, caramel and sweet malts. Flavor is hugely hoppy also, still dank and near-heavy, earthy hops dominate, some grapefruit, floral and herbal nops, nice offset of caramel, light breadiness and sweet malts, lots of malts too. Big Assed Dank MoFo. This Big Red is geting me fired up for what is going to be an AWESOME St. Patrick's Day IrishPfist with the Wisconsin Beer Mafia. Look out boys, the Delegate from Tennessee will have the floor very soon. Slainte!

    Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 9

Aroma is strongly hoppy, like dry hops rather than evergreen, with hints of leaves, pine and cloves. It pours a dark, semi-transparent, muddy brown with a fairly thick pale golden-tan head. Rich flavor has firm tones of hops, molasses, caramel and malt along with fruity, earthy and floral hints. Smooth texture has full body and a fair amount of fizz. The wacky story on the bottle is a hoot!
