SweetWater’s Sweet 16 Tribute: a Red Wheat Wine Ale Of course, SweetWater couldn’t throw a birthday bash without an honorary brew to celebrate such an occasion. The brewers went out of the box with this super heady limited-run Dank Tank release. With a license to brew, they stepped on the gas and whipped out a racy Red Wheat Wine (say that five times fast). This beer rips down the road at 11% ABV, fueled by a 45% wheat bomb and an after-burner hop shot of Amarillo, Willamette, Nelson Sauvin, and US Goldings creating a brew that is sure to raise some hairs.

Oddly spicily hopped and malted...lots going on, some working together, some solo, some flavors seemingly pitted againts each other, but what you end with works. Not a lot to compare this too, even in the style. The only real flaw is the abv shows a bit, but it was definitely enjoyed.

Pours a pretty clear chestnut with a fairly thick light tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Robust aroma has malty, caramel, earthy and nutty notes - and quite an alcohol nip. Flavor is - GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY, this stuff hits your taste buds like an 18-wheeler hauling ass up I-75! After recovering from the assault of the alcohol bite, I got nutty, wheaty, earthy and caramel notes. Rich texture has good body and fizz, and finish is a little sweet and a little hop-woody. Sip it slowly.
