Rated Nov. 2012. Poured up on tap at GABF 2012 with a mahogany looking body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sort of sticky sugary prunes, sweet malts, a little bit of musty earthiness and then it gets both nutty and molasses like. The taste is rich delivering an almost black strap molasses like sweetness and spiciness to go along with dark roasted malts. It then flows into sweet prune like esters and then lingering roastiness into the finish as well as a touch of booze. Sampled at the Bistro 7th Annual Barrel Aged Festival on 11/10/2012. This Imperial Porter pours a dark brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, smoky, bourbon and sweet. A medium bodied Imperial Porter. The malts are chocolate, coffee and slightly smoky. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice carbonation. Nice bourbon flavors. A touch of smoke, a touch of vanilla. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
