Stallhagen 1843 is a replica of a beer from early 1800s, spontaneously fermented using a unique composition of malt, wheat and micro-organisms. The beer is golden yellow and has almost none of the typical bitterness or hops aroma. The role of hops in the breweries 200 years ago was not as important as it is today. The beer’s taste profile is similar to wine; with a distinct freshness and fruitiness together with a subtle spiciness. Its aroma is fresh and acidic with flowery notes of fruit.

March 2015: Shared 375 ml green and corked & caged bottle at local tasting. Golden colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of farmhouse kitchen and oaked cider, hints of dusty attic. Easy drinking, light bodied. Some fruitiness but not really sour, a mild spicy hint.
