Imperial Stout has been complemented by a generous bourbon flavor after aging five extra weeks in white oak bourbon barrels. Already saturated with dark roasted malt flavor, bourbon and oak highlights perfect the balance in this enormously rich ale.

AKA Czar Brew. Rich, smoky aroma has a strong overtone of oaked bourbon. It pours a deep coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Robust flavor has coffee, bourbon, roast malt and oak notes with hints of toffee and licorice. Texture seems on the thin side, though, especially for a stout, and fizz leaves a bit to be desired. However, the palate (or mouthfeel, or whatever) is this beer’s weakest point, and a small one at that. Definitely a beer fit for a czar.

Pours with a black body topped by a thin, brown head with little lacing. It’s sweet and creamy with a note of vanilla and bourbon as well as a touch of roastiness. Full bodied and smooth.
