Black, small off white foam ring. Strong bourbon aroma, quite nice quadrupel like taste. Very good, some salty tones. At tasting at Rockwell Grill. (Houston 201501)

It wasnt marked so I didnt notice the price on until i was checking out.. OUCH. But i am glad it wasnt marked for i probably would have passed it up at $12 for 16.9 OZ. Liked their Buried Hatchet Stout, absolutely love this barrel aged version.Beautiful aromas of wood, leather, bourbon, coconut, coffee, milk and dark chocolates and maple syrup. Almost black body with plenty of brownish ruby edges, the head was thin and quickly reduced to a ringed film, leaving the occasional spot of lace. Medium mouthfeel, a touch of stickiness to it. All of the flavors come at you at once, big roasted coffee, nuts, booze, chocolates, bourbon the back side finishes with the mellow woody vanilla bean notes. A half step behind my favorite Goose Island Bourbon barrel aged stout, but still awesome and worth a try, i'm thinking about spending $12 more for a head to head this winter :)
