Perhekalja (Malt Brew) is a traditional drink with food. Perhekalja is manufactured from malts, yeast and water according to a traditional fermentation process. Perhekalja does not contain sugar; its carbohydrates are dextrines, in other words easily digestible long chain carbohydrates that remain after the yeast has used up all the fermentable sugars (glucose, fructose, maltose). Owing to its traditional manufacturing method the brew also contains a low amount of alcohol. Acesulphame is the sweetener. Caramel has been added to achieve the reddish copper colour and sodium metabisulphite is the antioxidant. Now called Sinebrychoff Perinnekalja.

Bottled. Dark brown colour with beige foamy head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of yeast, plum and grapefruit. Bready malty flavour which grows towards the finish. Not much aftertaste, and a bit watery.
