Pours clear chestnut with a thick, frothy, and rather persistent pale buff head. Strong, nose-filling aroma presents caramel, earthy, malty, and subtle clove and fruity tones. It is rather sweet, even for an abbey. Flavor is a little more subtle, less sweet, more malt and earth tones, a fruity underpinning of apple and a little banana plus clove and even a snippet of hops. Mouthfeel features firm body and a fair amount of fizz, as well as a sweet caramel and malty finish. Roll out the barrel, and we’ll dubbel our pleasure, dubbel our fun!
