    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Had a pint of this yesterday, while and my fiance had dinner at the brewpub. Although I was surprised to see this offered from the hand-pumped cask, I certianly wasn't going to complain!

Comes across as something of an "Imperial Stout Light", IMHO. Minimal head, typical of the cask-conditioned/hand-pump presentation, but retaining a certian attractive amount of aroma -- vanilla, anyone?

Hits the toungue rather oblquely, with the alcohol and weight of the malty mouthfel not immediately becoming obvious until the beer is on it's way down the throat. No burning, no huge bitterness bite, but enough of a "wake" to make sure that that you know that this isn't simply a brewpub's take of Guinness.

Nice interplay of hops, malt, and hints of (maybe?) smoke, to compliment the fact that the mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side of things.

A fully functional and workable big-ass Stout, that certianly worked with my pub-burger. A stellar Imperial Stout? Nah. But a solid Imperial Stout that's pretty tasty when fresh off the hand-pump? Absolutely.
