Pours a black color with a very light head that dissipates quickly. The nose is all bourbon and chocolate. The taste starts with a mix of spice with the bourbon and chocolate emerging and lingering through the finish. The light carbonation keeps the beer from becoming cloying, almost giving it a perception of lightness. A pleasant sipping beer with the bourbon both present but not overpowering as you work your way through the glass. Oddly easy to drink for a beer this strong. The warmer this beer gets the better it tastes. We recommend enjoying between 55°F and 60°F.

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
Pours Coca-Cola brown with a thin buff head. Aroma features roast malt, bourbon-soaked wood and licorice tones. Flavor echoes the aroma while adding a little bit of molasses. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and good fizz. Party with the bishop.

No hint of 12%, thought the barrel shines. Whiskey, coconut, vanilla, molasses, and chocolate almost on equal measures. Very smooth feel. Flavor marches the aroma with a hint of roast and graham cracker. Best TX beer I've had so far I think...

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9
Smells of whiskey and oak, dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, and caramel. Smooth bubbly palate, dark brown color with a light tan head, ring of foam that leaves sporadic lace. Obvious flavors of bourbon, spices, chocolate and smooth dark malt. A bit thin in the mouth for this style of beer, my only knock on this (oh and the price). It finishes nicely, very smooth with a warming sensation. Review #1400.
