Sail and Mermaid Bitter is brewed in a traditional English style, using a mix of local and imported malt and hops. This beer is a ’session style’ beer, made to just over 3% alcohol. Marris Otter malt from the UK gives a solid back bone, and use of East Kent Goldings hops a late hop gift. This beer will also be served on special occasions through an Beer Engine. Traditional Bitters in the UK undergo secondary conditioning in a cask. The beer is then served through a Beer Engine which draws the beer from the cellar. On cask, this beer is lightly carbonated and served at around 8 degrees. This beer is great to have for lunch or a few quite Ales after work. The lower alcohol makes it easy to have a few and not get into any trouble! Names after Richard Byrnes pub, The Sail and Mermaid, like our other beers it is steeped in the history of The Rocks.

On tap at Hart's Pub in Sydney. $9.50 for this - shocking! Clear copper body with a creamy white head. Minimal aroma, maybe some malt. Flavour wsa bitter but mostly malt. Decent enough mouthfeel and finish. I give this a seven at best.
