I quite enjoyed this barleywine despite hearing some horror stories about it. A brown beer with some reddish hues around the edges. The aroma is sweet malt, nuts, and citrus. Flavour starts out sweet with caramel notes, nuts, and finished bitter.

1 p 6 oz capped bottle. Poured an unfiltered hazy oak-burgundy coloured ABW with a two fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is aromatic, fruity and piney hops on a solid toasted and sweety malty backbone. The flavour is a heavy fruity and piney hoppy bitterness, toasted and sweety malts, spicy, licorice. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. This full bodied ale has a lingering hoppy bitter finish and produced a quickly warming effect. The alcoholic presence although well detected is well hidden. A charming brew.

Had no idea this is a Barleywine...my impression had IPA or IIPA written all over it. Regardless it's a nice malty and hoppy brew. Caramel with a touch of raisin and honey followed by a massive bitterness leading to plenty of citrus and evergreen. Surprisingly delicious.

pours a dark caramel colour .. dark hops and summer fruit aromas .. . some light refined sugar and maple .. . a beautiful beer with lots of mellow syrup sweetness and a high drinkability!!!
