This strong stout is filled with flavors of vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate. Smooth in body but dry on the finish, it’s hard to beat a good stout. Hammer & Sickle got its name from the history of the style. Stouts were common in England, but one beer-maker wanted to export his stout to Catherine the Great of Russia. In order to make the long voyage without spoiling, the stout had to have a high alcohol content. ABV: 9% IBU’s: 60 AVAILABLE: Seasonal, Nov-April Cans SIZES: 12oz 4-pack, 15.5 gal & 5 gal kegs AWARDS|FOOD PAIRINGS 2013 Winner for Imperial Stout Category at the Great American Beer Festival Best in Show Beer at 2013 Chef N’ Brew Festival

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

12 oz can, almost 1 year old. Pours dark black with a thin brown head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is very sweet sugary roast chocolate malt, dark fruit and licorice.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malt, dark fruit and some roast and licorice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit thin for the style.

Overall, a decent imperial stout but way on the sweet side.
