Age of Raisin is aromatic, spicy, light brown Belgian style ale brewed with raisins and passion (27% passion by volume). Raisins were added to the boil and fermenter to yield a subtle background flavour to this rich flavoursome brew. The passion was added using our own secret method..."The Beer we had to brew" Thanks to Jim Holly and And Andy Deuchars.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7
Pours a rich amber colour with a big frothy warm-beige head that is foamy, still coming out of the bottle. Fruity raisin nose at first, with eventual sweet malt, apples and grassy hops. The taste has the raisins, but is quite mild. More metallic hops and then, soft prunes and apples. A little roasted malts come out in the finish. Decent overall, but not one I would have again (not my style).

Pours an average size frothy off white head that gives way to a small coating and has a dark amber/brownish appearance. Weak lacing. Aromas of resin hops and spices, with faint notes of raisins. Flavours are dark fruits, raisins, plums and hints of spices and even something similar to prune juice. Fairly bitter mostly in the finish.

Pours a reddish /brown with a very disappointing appearance. No head or lacing. Mild aroma of malt and raisins. It's got lots of flavours going on but all are subdued. It tastes a little like a Dubbel mixed with a very weak red wine. Medium body. Overall I just wasn't that impressed.

The beer pours a semi-translucent reddish-brown with a 1/2 inch thin tan coloured head. The aroma is molasses, raisins, grains, and some caramelly notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet up front with hints of molasses and caramel, and a bitter in back with notes of yeast and grains. A very good beer, on par with the brewer's other offerings.
