Everyone knows that Santa delivers toys and gifts to little girls and boys each Christmas Eve. But what does he do with the sleigh the other 364 days a year? Well rumor has it he hitches up the reindeer each July testing driving to ensure it’s still in operating condition. At the North Pole they mark their calendars calling it Christmas in July. How do we know that? Well, Virginia, each year Santa stops by Port Brewing to load up his sleigh with beer for his return trip to the North Pole. He’s a big fan of Santa’s Little Helper, and for the last nine months our brewers have been extra naughty aging some in bourbon barrels. Hopefully Santa won’t drink it all by himself, but we wouldn’t blame him if he did. ABV – 10%

22 oz bottle - 2012 version 12% abv. Pours opaque black with a smallish brown head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet baker's chocolate, some roasted grainy malts and some light bourbon.
The flavor is sweet fudgy chocolate with a lot of roast and a big sharp alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is kind of light bodied for an impy stout.
Overall, it's a bit subdued other than hot alcohol. -

Comes out of the bottle a rich, warm sable just a whisker above jet with a fairly thick light tan head that leaves substantial lacing. Smoky aroma has an overtone of bourbon and notes of chocolate and molasses plus a hint of toffee. Splendiferous flavor fills the mouth with a symphony of tastes: bourbon, chocolate, molasses, burnt oak, toffee, caramel, coffee. Each sip seems a little different. Over all is a firm but not fierce alcohol bite. Full-bodied texture is smooth as fine silk and has a subtle but lasting fizz. This nice beer is well worth the "naughty" price!

orbital sockets .. . pours a ruddy brown, light foam .. . oak, bourbon, chocolate, tar and things of that nature, light bourbon presence and quite smooth .. . enjoyable but i wasn't totally blown away or left with any real big impression .. . I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

barrel aged in 2009 for the first time. this beer is quite a treat if you are a fan of BB stouts. Not quite a rival to the Old Rasputin 12, but not too far off either. Of course the base beer is of very high quality, and the hops actually still come through the sweet vanilla and oak a little, which is nice. lower carbonation, slick body, fantastic flavor...a great winter sipper.
