It is that time of year that a pipping mug of hot chocolate with a sprinkling of cinnamon hits the spot, especially after that quick little pour of whiskey to top that mug up on a chilly eve! As such, we at Pontoon felt it was prudent to make a barrel aged ode to this feeling of the season, so we barrel aged some of our beautiful stout base in an ASW Gold Medal Whiskey barrel, and added just enough spice to make our version of a spiced holiday hot chocolate. The result is a enchanting and exquisite barrel aged beer that presents as delicious cinnamon vanilla cream, with hints of milk and dark chocolate swirled with bittersweet coffee, and a superb Whiskey and barrel finishing note. Pours opaque coffee, minimal head. Aroma delivers roast malt, chocolate, cinnamon. Flavor yields chocolate, cocoa, roast malt, subtle cinnamon tones. Texture has firm body, peppy fizz. Perfect beer for chilly weather.
