Scotch Ale is the flagship of our Twisted Oak Stillage Series. Born as a rich, creamy strong ale, it is allowed to rest in wood barrels to mature and develop flavors slowly and naturally. The nose combines bourbon, American oak, and cotton candy aromas. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and toffee. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses. Available year-round at finer private liquor outlets. THE BARREL The Scotch Ale matures in selected oak whiskey barrels which, having been freshly emptied, serve as the perfect incubator for infusing warm oak and sweet whiskey flavours softly into the beer. The beer will remain in their oak environments until the characteristics of the barrel marry the richness of the Scotch Ale. From Central City, in a bomber. Clear pour of dark copper under a creamy ivory head, bit of a ring. Aroma of caramel or toffee, plus some alcohol. Flavour of the caramel/toffee and malt, some vanilla, and an obvious alcohol burn. Glorious buttery mouthfeel. Sweet notes at the finish plus the alcohol.
