First brewed for our Two-Year Anniversary, Black Curtains was the first stout we brewed. “We enjoy making high alcohol beers,” said Michael Peticolas, founder of Peticolas, when asked about the origins of the beer. “So when it came time to brew a stout, I immediately gravitated to an imperial version. I certainly wanted to focus on a roasty character for the beer and used a large amount of roasted barley as a result. You might be surprised at the amount of hop used to balance it out. Black Curtains has somewhat pf a dual meaning, but you’ll have to let the imagination run on that one.” As with previous batches, Black Curtains will only be available on draft at the brewery. True to its name, the beer pours black with a thick dark tan head. Its rich malty aroma and roasted malt astringency and bitterness are balanced with a relatively high level of floral and citrus hop character.
