For this Limited Release, we age our award-winning Abbey Ale in both bourbon and brandy barrels, and blend the results to perfection. The beer pours a mahogany hue, with a creamy tan head. Aromas and flavors of vanilla, molasses, burnt sugar, and dark stone fruit are accompanied by notes of oak from the barrels.

My sample fizzed quite a bit, so have a thirsty towel handy. When it pours into the glass, it comes out clear chocolate with a thick buff head. Strongly sweet aroma presents caramel, toasted malt, bourbon and toffee tones. Flavor offers less sweetness and more bourbon, and adds a bit of molasses to the mix. Texture gives fair body and lively fizz. Drink it double-slowly.
