When the pub first opened, this was the ale that was really pushed. The batch that was served shortly after opening was nice and balanced, stong malt profile, slightly citrus hop presence, but primary nuance exhibited in the yeasts, as belgians should. The best part was the pepper. Loads of it. Serious pepper for sure. Only subsequent visits, I have trouble, if not inabilty to find the pepper. The malts seemed to have died off a bit too, giving the beer a less body. Previously filled the mouth well, now doesnt seem to, but it could be summer vs. winter tasting conditions as well. Previously would have scored a 8 or 9, now just a six, rating for style not overall...
