Uniquely different dark wheat ale. This beer is brewed with a touch of star of anise at the end of the boil to give it a nice smooth finish with a slight hint of licorice. Caution, just like a Black Widow, this beer will bite you if you are not careful!

Aromas of toated, almost burnt toffee malts, some sweetness in there, off putting at first but not so bad now. Black well carbonated body, maybe a bit too much for the style. The head settled into a thin ringlet. Initial reaction to flavor, sweaty gymsocks with a sweetness. some licorice and toasted malts as well. Overall its strange and not in a good way. P.S. i just noticed in the description that anise is an ingredient, that explains alot. I cant stand anise.

Tap @ Flying Saucer, Houston @ Joeypalooza, first beer of the evening .. . Pours a standard porter black, medium foam .. . quite light really, it seems light a 3% mild ale/porter so the abv has been done very well .. . a bit muddled but i could down a couple .. . . Why do blessings wear disguises? If I were a blessing, I'd run around naked.
