12 oz bottle. Pours ruby amber with a medium creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is cola malt with some nutty cardboard leather.

The flavor is sweet nutty cola and caramel malt with a bit of a bitter alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, it's not well balanced with overly sweet cola malt and an overly bitter finish that just doesn't all go together.

One of the so called Imperial Red Ales, this is one of the more enjoyable ones. A decently copper coloured beer with a cream coloured 1/2" head. A little bit of grain, roast, and caramel make up the malt bill with weak hops in the mix. Flavour is a little bit sweet with plenty of bitter hops in the finish.

pours dark red w/ khaki head. aromatic hops, but a sweet carmely malt undertone. well balanced flavor reminiscent of red horse and red rocket. good, but not quite as tasty as those 2.

Nearly opaque, reddish-brown with a thick, tan head. Aroma of nuts, bread, malt and hints of piney, grassy hops. Medium body and smooth to start. A touch of fruity sweetness, starting with plum then going to pear, then a dry, alcohol tinged finish. Nice lacing. Pretty well balanced. Not sure if I'd call this a "Strong Ale" since 6.9% isn't exactly a whole lot. Sort of a regular red ale that had its alcohol and hops kicked up a notch. Not bad, not great.

Pours a nice ruby red hue. Full flavor, intense but not overbearingly hoppy. Found this one while on a trip out of state and wish it was available in my area.

From Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Guess I'm becoming a Ninkasi fan. Poured a creamy tan head, three fingers thick over a dark, clear ruby red. Easily one of the most attractive beers I've ever seen. Lovely hop aroma, with malt undertones. Taste was delicious, hops, malt, and I'd guess some dark fruit. Solid, smooth mouthfeel. Most enjoyable.

Tasted on tap at the 7th Annual Bistro Double IPA fest. This IPA pours a dark orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is mild, malty and sweet. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney and citrusy. Not a lot of hop bitterness. Somewhere between an IPA and a Barley wine. Nice balance. Perhaps a touch thin in body at the finish. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Poured a very dark red/amber with a particularly thick foamy head. Aroma was pleasant and not over powering. Flavor was very smooth and balanced. A good strong hop flavor, yet enough malt to not be a hop head special. Very good beer.

Bottle, home. Nice looking beer. Red, translucent, big creamy head. The aroma is mostly sweet caramel malt. There’s a relatively strong hop character - citrus fruits, wildflowers. The flavor is a bit too sweet, despite the hops. The hops are a bit blandly bitter once you actually take a sip. Mouthfeel is just ok. Good beer but needs a bit more delicacy and less sweetness.

I'm a believer in this beer for sure. It was one of those heady red ales that are strong and warm but have the hoppiness and astringency (sp?) of an hearty IPA. A well balanced, rich malty brew with an aroma of pine and hops, as well a little alcohol and some dark fruits. Mouthfeel is full an complex. Creamy and spritzy at the same time. A really nice beer overall and I'll have to check it out next time I'm in Oregon.
